Dr. Peter Russell suggests the Primacy of Consciousness

Dr. Peter Russell once again brings his knowledge of consciousness into a lecture for all to watch. He focuses on what conscious is and how we can explain it. He starts the video discussing different theories of what consciousness is and the different definitions that people adhere to. The idea that the mind is more important than matter is a philosophical theory that science can neither prove nor disprove. Science cannot understand why awareness exists and why we experience things. Dr. Russell argues that consciousness and experience comes from the mind and is inherent in all living beings. He reasons if dogs weren’t conscious we would not feel the need to put them under anesthesia during surgery if we didn’t believe they were conscious beings.

Dr. Peter claims that the reason we cannot understand how consciousness exists is because of our faulty paradigm. The idea that the mind came out of nothing, he argues, is the only explanation we can accept because of the paradigm we have created. However, if we choose to look at it from a different perspective we are ridiculed because it cannot be understood in the structure of the current paradigm. But the idea that what we are seeing is what, in fact, reality is really is not fact. The only thing Russell believes with 100% certainty is that what he is experiencing is consciousness and that matter is of no importance.

The alternative theory that Dr. Peter proposes is that there is no objective reality, that we ourselves create the world we perceive. We give rise to our own consciousness, and other human beings do the same, they give rise to their own world, and so on. He believes that all that truly is simply is the appearance of things and there really is not anything there. He also argues that there is no space and time. He points to Einstein’s theory that the speed of light changes with the speed of the observer. From light’s perspective there is no space, no time, and no matter. Of course, once again this goes in contrary to popular scientific belief.

Dr. Peter is both interesting and shocking in this lecture and he threatens the very fabric of what many scientists believe. But his theory can neither disprove nor validate the existence of God. In fact, it is not God that does not exist, but rather possibly our viewpoint of what God is.
