Mindwalk takes us on a walk through today’s mind where our current paradigm lies!
A US politician (Sam Waterston) visits his poet friend (John Heard) in Mont. St. Michael, France. While walking through the medieval island discussing their philosophies of life they happen upon Sonja (Liv Ullman), a scientist in recluse, who joins in their conversation. The two men listen to the ideas of this brilliant woman and discuss how her ideas can work in their own politician and poet lives.
Mindwalk echoes the same message covered in “What the Bleep Do We Know” only it was made in 1992 and not 2004. Is this Quantum Tunneling? I doubt it. Most likely it means that ever since the dawn of Quantum Mechanics humanity has had to deal with its implications on all walks of live. The movies catches this message quit well I think if not as complete as “What the Bleep Do We Know” then certainly as best a dramatic movie with big actors in it could in 1992.
In any case you’ll find the fundamental conundrum of Quantum Mechanics pointing to an underlying “None Local” (that’s a Quantum Mechanical term describing the understanding of the underlying unity of all things) connectedness between all things if only physically then also in that we have to face how this new understanding affects our lives and what we need to do with it to make the world work (better) and not destroy it.
This is of course the topical cliché of the age of science and technology only as we put more years on it the cliché seems to not only make more sense but also becomes more poignant.
If you are a Quantum Consciousness Enthusiast (like myself) then I highly recommend purchasing the movie (a Google search should bring it up on Amazon) and watching it for the insights it offers on some of the latest thinking we have on what Quantum Mechanics is telling us about who and what we are; even if it’s becoming a vintage movie and is an hour and a half long.
The actors carry the message well making the time go by faster than you’d expect though John Heard seems a little theatrical toward the end. It certainly seems to be the message of the age trying to find the ageless.
I do invite your feedback not only on the movie and how it might have been done better but also on the concept behind the film basically what is becoming described as “Quantum Consciousness”.
John
